Active Meditation, Breathwork & Dance
After years studying various types of therapy and then spending years with teachers who combine therapy with active meditations, I discovered one thing. Therapy work that does not include the body & breathwork somehow has a limited effect.
When we do deeply emotive soul work like Family Constellations or Collective Trauma Healing, the body needs to be included, moved & breathed through. Active Meditations, Conscious Connected Breathing & freeform dance movement can all offer us the opportunity to open ourselves to greater and greater depths of experience, clearing out any blockages to our natural energy flow that have risen to the surface through working with the soul.
There are types of active meditation & breathwork which are more activating and cathartic, then there are types which are calmer and more integrating. In the work I offer we practice both as a way of integrating and penetrating into deeper levels of experiencing ourselves.
Three of my biggest inspirations in these areas have been Osho’s Active Meditations, Gabrielle Roth’s 5 Rhythms Dance & Leonard Orr’s Rebirthing Breathwork. All three of which I have personally practiced over many years. I met Leonard Orr in 2006 and trained in Rebirthing Breathwork.

“You are frozen. I would like to melt you and create a flow again. That is why I insist on active meditation. By ‘active’ I only mean that your body must be involved in it. Through the body you are related to the existence, through body you exist. Your meditation must in some way be deeply rooted in the body; otherwise it will become just a dream floating in the mind, just like clouds without any roots in the earth. I want to push you back to the earth”
- OSHO
“If you go through chaotic meditations, you throw all these clouds outside, all these darknesses outside, then mindfulness becomes easier. That is my reason why I emphasize first chaotic meditations and then silent meditations. First active meditations, then passive meditations. You can move into passivity only when all that is there like junk has been thrown out. Anger has been thrown out, greed has been thrown out… layer upon layer, these things are there. But once you have thrown them out, you can easily slip in. There is nothing to hinder”
- OSHO

OSHO Dynamic Meditation
This meditation is an expression of total life force and encourages energy to move and to break through our tightly held ego structures. Making space for the unconscious to become more conscious. This active meditation provides the opportunity for giving expression to any extreme or difficult feelings that are stuck in our unconscious and preventing us from living our lives more in a state of lightness and flow. Within the context of the soul work we are engaging it supports a radically deeper processing of feelings and past experiences, challenging us deeper into our own flow.

OSHO Kundalini Meditation
This meditation helps us to very gently loosen up wherever there is blockage or repression & integrate any incomplete soul movements or energetic cycles. It supports a deeper letting go to the wisdom of the body, a catalyst to come out of doing and drop deeper into being.

Freeform Dance Movement
Moving our bodies in resonance with music and its diverse landscape of emotional frequencies really has the capacity to open us up to a much deeper experience of our own essence. Learning how to break habitual patterns of thinking through breaking through habitual patterns of moving, finding new ways to move and express oneself through the body can have a radical effect on a person’s energy and consciousness. On the dancefloor we learn how to let go to life, how to move with everything as it is, how to love the spontaneousness of the unknown rather than fearing it. In the context of therapy work, moving the body freely in resonance with music supports a deeper integration & embodiment of new pathways discovered through therapy. Through dance the heart finds its own rhythm and begins expressing itself totally in our lives.
“Freeing the body inevitably leads to freeing the heart.”
— Gabrielle Roth

Trauma Informed Breathwork
(Conscious connected breathing)
The breath is the gateway to deeply healing states of consciousness. Through breathing in resonance with diverse musical landscapes and within the safe container of the group field, we are able to welcome back parts of our souls who have been forgotten and lost. TI Breathwork supports the processing and deep integration of feelings & sensations associated with unresolved trauma being held in the body and the nervous system. Through experiencing ourselves in the breath we open the way for new and healing insights to appear, for the reclaiming of our total life energy, so we can live a more alive and pleasurable existence without being confined to the prison of constant reactivity, defensiveness and survival behaviour. Breathwork supports healing integration and a deeper realization of self.
